Academic or Scholarly Articles Subject Indexes

ABI/INFORM Complete

This database includes a wide variety of business journals that cover "business conditions, trends, corporate strategies and tactics, management techniques, competitive and product information" and many other topics. You can search some 1,300 journals for citations and abstracts. Full text is available online for approximately half of those journals. This index works best using controlled vocabularies.

ABI/INFORM Dateline Business, Economics: local and regional business publications Search a unique resource focusing on hard-to-find local and regional business news coverage of large corporations, privately held companies, local start-ups, executive profiles, marketing, finance, and industry news. Provides access to business information not typically found in national news sources. Contains news and analysis, information on local markets, and more gathered from major business tabloids, magazines, daily newspapers, wire services, and city, state, and regional business publications. This index works best using controlled vocabularies.

ABI/INFORM Global: "Most scholarly and comprehensive way to explore and understand business research topics. A list of the subjects used in the database is available at the reference desk in Moore Library.

Coverage: 1971 - current
ABI/INFORM Trade & Industry Business, Economics: trade and industry periodicals and newsletters Search more than 750 business periodicals and newsletters with a trade or industry focus. Provides users with the latest industry news, product and competitive information, marketing trends, and a wide variety of other topics. Contains publications on every major industry, including finance, insurance, transportation, construction, and many more.

Banking Information Source

Coverage: 1971- current
"Search essential banking industry publications providing information about the financial services industry, banking, and industry trends."

Business Source Premier

An indexing and full-text database with scholarly and trade publications. Searchable by keyword, company name and NAICS codes among other options. Results are divided into categories, some of which are industry profiles, SWOT analyses and country reports. Company and industry profiles are provided by Datamonitor and country reports are provided by the Economist Intelligence Unit. The "Books/Monographs" category leads to entries from the Almanac of American Employers.

EconLit

Coverage: 1969 to date
"Journals, books, and working papers on economics." This database "provides citations for dissertations and articles in more than 620 collective volumes per year.

Emerald Library

The Emerald Library contains full text of 130 journals from the fields of management, human resources, marketing, and similar disciplines.

JSTOR: The Scholarly Journal Archive Available in Full Text Authentication Required

JSTOR is a collection of journals from the the fields of arts, sciences, business, education, and social sciences. The archive begins with the first issue of most of these journals and continues to within the past three to five years.

Social Sciences Full Text

"Social Sciences Full Text is a bibliographic database that indexes and abstracts articles of at least one column in length from English-language periodicals published in the United States and elsewhere plus the full text of selected periodicals. Coverage includes a wide range of interdisciplinary fields covered in a broad array of social sciences journals. Abstracting coverage begins with periodicals published in January 1994. Abstracts range from 50 to 300 words and describe the content and scope of the source articles. Full text coverage begins in January 1995."

IMF World Economic Outlook Database

Database for macro-economic statistics and trade data. Most of the trade data is under "WEO aggregates" which is the IMF's term for regional groupings. Select "All Countries" to find the list for individual counties. Includes projections into 2006 and data is available for download as.csv files. Some figures back to 1980.

New Jersey State Data Center

Source of New Jersey statistics including demographic, economic, labor, etc. Includes some projections.

STAT-USA

Contains current and historical economic and financial releases and economic data. Information on retail sales, manufacturing, trade, inventories, industrial production and current industry reports, all for the US. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS)

Information on consumers, industries, business costs, CPI, PPI, etc. At a Glance tables as well as in depth information.

Census Bureau Economic Programs

Link to the Economic Census with information on many industry segments and geographical areas. The Economic Census profiles American business every 5 years, from the national to the local level. Last Economic Census was 2002, but not all tables are out yet. Statistics from the 1997 Census are available down to the Zip Code level. Print summaries from 1997 are also available.

Federal Reserve Bank Statistics: Releases and Historical Data

FRED (Federal Reserve Economic Data)

"A database of over 3000 U.S. economic time series. With FRED you can download data in Microsoft Excel and text formats and view charts of data series. Also includes a link to ALFRED: Archival Federal Reserve Economic Data. Using ALFRED you can retrieve vintage versions of data that were available on specific dates in history. Currently, vintage data are available for 60 series in the FRED categories: CPI, PPI, and Employment. The earliest vintage available is December 6, 1996."

The online version has full text of the latest editions.

Urban Institute's Collection of Data

Data from the National Survey of America's Families Public Use Files, the State Database, the Welfare Rules Database, and the State TANF Income Calculator. Although there is no charge to use the data, users must register first.

USA Trade Online

Talbott Library is heavily oriented toward vocal, choral and keyboard music. Printed music, recorded music, and monographs and periodicals on these topics are of prime interest.
