Historical Abstracts

"Historical Abstracts is your complete reference guide to the history of the world from 1450a to the present, (excluding the United States and Canada, which are covered in America: History and Life). Currently over 2,000 journals published throughout the world are covered in the database. While primarily an index, Historical Abstracts also has links to full-text articles for journals appearing in JSTOR, Project MUSE, Ingentia,, SwetsWise, Taylor & Francis, Oxford University Press, University of California Press, Cambridge Universty Press, provided your instituition subscribes to these databases. Historical Abstracts also has full-text access to the four subscription-controlled Historical Cooperative journals (American Historical Review, Journal of American History, Western Historical Quarterly and William and Mary Quarterly).

Humanities Index Full Text

"Humanities Full Text is a bibliographic database that cites articles from English-language periodicals, plus the full text of selected periodicals. Periodical coverage includes some of the best-known scholarly journals and numerous lesser-known but important specialized magazines. Full-text coverage begins in January 1995."

MLA Bibliography

An index to the content of journals books proceedings and other resources in the disciplines of languages, literature, linguistics and folklore.

General Indexes to Magazine, Journal & Newspaper Articles

Factiva

Factiva contains the full text of all Dow Jones publications and 8,000 other publications, 20,000 company reports, and selected business web sites. In addition it contains the full text of Reuters Business Briefings which include global business news as well as foreign language publications. Works best with Internet Explorer 5.01 and newer.

Ingenta

This service provides the tables of contents and brief descriptions of articles in about 26,000 multidisciplinary journals. You may browse through the contents and summaries for free, but Ingenta does charge a fee to deliver any article. Moore Library recommends that the Rider community first check the Find Journals catalog for local holdings and then use the Interlibrary Loan service if necessary.

National Newspaper Index

National Newspaper Index indexes articles from America's top five newspapers: The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, The Christian Science Monitor, Los Angeles Times and The Washington Post. Coverage is from 1977 to the present. All five newspapers are available in Moore Library.

In addition to language and literature resources, this site includes author biographies, links to scholarly societies and publishers, and a German language search engine.

Romance Languages and Literatures

This guide to Internet resources lists general, research, and reference sites for French, Italian, and Spanish languages and literatures. It is a good place to find electronic texts, journals, databases, bibliographies, etc.

Slavic Languages and Literatures

This site contains links to general resources for Russian and East European studies as well as sections about literature, language and linguistics, magazines and journals, and reference materials.

JSTOR: The Scholarly Journal Archive Available in Full Text Authentication Required

JSTOR is a collection of journals from the the fields of arts, sciences, business, education, and social sciences. The archive begins with the first issue of most of these journals and continues to within the past three to five years.

Project MUSE

Currently, Project MUSE offers nearly 200 quality journal titles from some 30 scholarly publishers. ...Project MUSE covers the fields of literature and criticism, history, the visual and performing arts, cultural studies, education, political science, gender studies, economics, and many others." Project MUSE includes the full content of each journal with the exception of advertisements.
